Jones: Grants for Local Fire, EMS Agencies Awarded

ELIZABETHTOWN – Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) announced more than $130,000 in grant funding for fire and emergency medical services organizations in the district was awarded through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
“Firefighters and EMS providers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe,” Jones said. “These grants help ensure they have the equipment, training and facilities they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
Grants were awarded to:
• Bainbridge Fire Co.: $14,488.
• Fire Department Mount Joy: $16,137.
• Friendship Fire & Hose Co. in Elizabethtown: $15,312.
• Maytown-East Donegal Township Fire Department: $16,137.
• Municipal Emergency Services Authority: $15,000.
• Pioneer Fire Co. in Marietta: $13,663.
• Rheems Fire Department in Elizabethtown: $16,137.
• Mount Gretna Community Volunteer Fire Co.: $13,045.
• Lawn Fire Co.: $13,045.
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire prevention, and reduction of existing debt. All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their funds.
