ELIZABETHTOWN – Community improvement projects in the 98th Legislative District received $1.5 million in funding, Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) announced today.

“From upgrading infrastructure to improving educational centers for our children, these grants aim to improve the lives of district residents,” Jones said. “I am pleased our communities were awarded this much-needed funding.”

The Elizabethtown Area Water Authority received $263,350 to construct a bypass piping system at its water treatment plant in Elizabethtown. The Janus School in Mount Joy received $250,000 to modernize its building, which includes buying and installing an emergency phone in the elevator, fire and security equipment, telephone system, computer system and equipment upgrades, and electrical rewiring.

In Lebanon County, South Londonderry Township received $400,000 to replace and rehabilitate the sanitary sewer system under Timber Road and Timber Lane.

The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the Local Share Account. Projects eligible for funding through the program must be in the public interest and aim to improve the quality of life of citizens in the community.

The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center received $632,054 through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program for a roof repair project at the Mount Joy campus and Willow Street campus. The proposed project will restore the roofing system at each facility by applying a liquid membrane, new insulation and an application of base coat and primer.
