Jones Announces Funding for Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Jones (R-Elizabethtown) announced Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS) received a $250,000 grant funded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
“GEARS is a cherished part of our community, and this funding will help it expand to reach even more residents,” Jones said. “I look forward to the coming renovations and the exciting things to come.”
The grant will be used by GEARS to assist with funding a renovation project of the second floor of its center, located at 70 S. Poplar St. in Elizabethtown. The funding is through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, which helps to fund projects which involve development, rehabilitation and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails and river conservation.
GEARS offers an assortment of resources and programs, including a community center, child care program, recreation and a senior center.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, oversees state investment in projects that support and enhance Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
